Sounds like it's been a traumatic journey, but hopefully things can return to normal now that the (unduly heavy-handed) process is completed.

Thank you. Yes - it's not been the easiest month or so and it has certainly been an eye-opener. I certainly can't fault the officer who we have dealt with in all of this though... but I am still surprised that the other dog owner felt the circumstances of the incident warranted a police investigation.

It seems somewhat ridiculous that you are deemed to be at fault because some daft woman put her leg between 2 dogs having a nip at one another. Sigh! At least it's over.

Did the other owner and her dog get investigated at all? I'm pleased it's all over but it still seems very unfair.

Our Ernie seems to be gaining a reputation. Apparently he is the talk of the village and everyone loves him

I'm glad that you have been recognised for what you are - responsible dog owners with a well-behaved dog.
I have a mental picture of the other woman that may not be entirely flattering, but sad to say I know some of her clones.

I can only echo what Helegant says. Unfortunately down to the clones too.
It is wretched you have had to go through this.

The other woman was 'the injured party' so I think all she had to do was make a statement. She did have a bruise on her leg so the police have to treat it as 'someone has been hurt.' I don't blame the police - they also have to watch their backs - while it's not quite the same there have been plenty of stories of 'axe-murderers' and other such 'wrong-uns' who certain newspapers will be happy to scream how 'only days before their incident, someone had reported them to the police but nothing was done....'
I think also living in a quiet rural location gives people a different approach to what public bodies can and should do... . I hear 'but I pay my council tax so WHY isn't *something* being done by the council' over the most trivial things here that it seems glaringly obvious that the/any council doesn't have the resources to do all the time... whereas when I lived in a larger town, not all that far away people were far more accepting that public services do have to have priorities.
Anyway - I'm now going to go out and take my Gold Good Citizen for a walk with our heads held high (and a muzzle in my pocket as a responsible owner, should I suddenly meet several coachloads of people and dogs who've somehow got lost and thought they were at Flatford!!!)

It certainly seems stupid and unfair but I'm glad the police were as sensible as the could be, its been a tough time for your which was so undeserved. There for the grace .... etc

Harumph - I agree with what's been said , best possible outcome etc *but* I'm still cross on your behalf Baroness! Still it's over and done with now and it's good to hear that the police dealt with it as best they could.
