Three things to know: I'm in London at the moment, there was a big thunderstorm on Thursday night, Jess is not allowed on the bed.
Sometimes, chancing it, Jess will come into the bedroom and walk round the bed, then put her long nose on it. At which point we laugh and say as sternly as possible 'NO!' She usually gets the message.
The storm woke Raffo on Thursday and he heard Jess pad her way upstairs, she's not keen on loud thunder. He went back to sleep ... and the next time he woke up Jess was lying in MY place on the bed. Fast on.

'Bad wolf!' said Raffo.

She obviously knows who is really the boss and whose stern NO is not quite as stern as it might be

He relented because she was frightened of the storm.
I say she's a chancer!

I cooked a roast chicken for supper tonight (with enough left over for a pie tomorrow or Monday) Wanda has behaved like a dog that hasn't eaten for a week - even though she has actually eaten very well today.
I've even had to fasten the clips over the lid of the bin (which usually aren't required) as she tries to find the scrapings that went into the bin earlier!

Somehow this thread had become 'unwatched' so I'd missed the last couple of pages
Flossie gets what we call 'bucket and brush' outside if she's rolled in fox poo or similar. She hates it, but not as much as we hate a fox poo smelling dog in our house! The image of the two-tone Lab made me smile as we have a photo of my sister's first Lab, Sam, who was exactly like that after a foray into a Norfolk drain/ditch :-). When we get home I'll see if I can find it and put it in the gallery.
Nice Jess stories on keeping Raffo company both on the bed and in the sea!
Floss has had quite an exciting weekend, not that she shows it :-). On Friday she sat on the beach with us as the Red Arrows did their display. Completely unfazed by all the noise and smoke etc. Then last night we took her with us down to the seafront to watch the regatta fireworks. We've not actually taken her to a fireworks display before, though she's heard and seen them going off around and about at home and not been concerned. Again, she just sat next to me (though interestingly, just as at gundog class, she kept me between her and the source of the bangs ;-)) and was totally chilled out. After the display, as we left the area, a chap complimented us on having such a 'steady dog'.

Not sure if I should be posting this here or on the real ale thread... but this was a hit with Wanda

I saw it in the pet shop chain Jollyes - not sure how widespread they are - this was in their Norwich branch.
