Sorry to hear that hp. The lunging at the face is scary - only this evening we were talking about when Wanda did that as a new member of the family. I was sometimes scared at what she might do if I was on my own with her (this was much more my own imagination running riot than anything she *actually* did do) - it does get better though...

I will definitely be taking action sooner when he becomes too boisterous. All of the undesirable behaviours were when I was distracted or because he hadn't had enough of a walk. It was entirely my fault. He was an absolute joy on his evening walk, running ahead and exploring but always stopping to wait or coming when called. A decent walk and he was more settled.

Jess is very itchy at the moment. I know LD mentioned that Flossie had been too - but I think said Frontline had made much difference. Have you solved the problem LD - or has Floss just stopped scratching so much - possibly with the cooler weather last week?
Jess isn't CONSTANTLY scratching - just more than usual. Pretty sure not fleas, we know it could be mites... but can't see anything at all in the copious amounts of fur she sheds (she always does - this is nothing out of order, it's a GSD thing)
We don't like using heavy duty chemicals but will do so when absolutely necessary of course. The herbal Billy No Mates usually works at treat.
BUT
Well, any ideas dogfans?

Should read Frontline HADN'T made much difference
PS Jess has never had any skin complaints and usually looks very glossy for a GSD.

Jet had something similar a couple of years ago which the vet couldn't identify, but suggested was related to him bounding through the cereal fields. She looked for but couldn't find harvest mites and concluded it was a mild allergic reaction, but I don't recall any treatment. It wore off once the dust settled after the harvest.

The itchiness lessened considerably once the hot weather subsided, Sharkie, though it hasn't gone altogether. However while we've been in Sidmouth this past week we've been walking either on the beach or through a riverside park, not fields of long grass as at home, and I think that's helped too.
At last, yesterday Flossie finally discovered she can swim

Thanks Helegant - that's useful. We sort of think similar - Jess runs through lots of long grass and at the edges of various crop fields. The scratching is general rather than any hot spots.
She seems a little subdued today - Raffo will see how she is on the walk.

Thanks LD - that's good news. Yesterday's walk was a real long grass one.
Love Flossie finally learning to swim. Jess is such a water baby but like Floss- (until now!) - never ACTUALLY swims. Just splashes and messes about.

Well done Flossie.
I hope Jess isn't too bothered by the itching.
We're just back from puppy class. Ernie is crashed out again He did so well. I am warming to the instructor a bit more as well.

Congratters to Ernie and halfpint
Jess is fine, had a great walk and didn't scratch at all. More brushing and vacuuming in order today!
