Lulu, maybe s/he just isn't that fast on recovery runs? My "run" up the hill home after crossfit is somethings a shocking 8min/km but I really am doing my best after 200+ squats! It's also possible that if the Garmin isn't set to "autopause" that s/he is standing about a lot at traffic lights, etc.

I record as "cross-training" then update to "walking" on my log. One great thing about WSW is that it has got me walking more (and cycling in the summer). I also log walks and rides that I would never have bothered about before.

You should have said that Chrisity :-)

We should have a rematch at Worksop half 2019, I'll need some competition to be able to beat my time from this year! I'd just had my diagnosis on the Wednesday before this years race so I wasn't sure if I'd pack in the PB attempt halfway through or get round in a 'sod everything' frame of mind. Thankfully it was the latter :-) The op went well so I'll need WSW to get me back out soon and off my a*se! Might try a brisk walk today but I don't think I'll make any inroads on your 143 - 0 lead!! :-)

P.s. glad that bollard wasn't any higher, could have been so much worse :-)

Lulu, in that case, that is unfair! My Garmin makes the distinction between Runs and Walks, so I make sure I'm logging the right thing.

Don't go out too soon Pikelet, you've lots of years running ahead of you. I'll fill in all but 3 squares to save you the effort. I'll need about 3 min handicap next year at Worksop, i'm not getting any faster. Oh look, whilst i'm distracting you it seems to be 167 - 0.

16/17 min miles does sound like a walk logged as a run, which might happen if it's an upload from something which defaults to run and isn't edited here. That's the pace of the walks I log anyway; my runs are slow but rarely more than 13mm (and that's a run/walk but more running than walking!).

Well if I'm going to lose my first match I may as well do it properly! (Unless this is all just a ruse to lull you into a false sense of security......)

Older Garmins don't allow you to select between walk and run - it's just an activity and gets uploaded as a run.

FWIW I don't mind this - walking a mile is a far bigger time commitment than running it, so I think it should score equally, if not higher, on the same basis that cycling which is quicker/lower effort scores lower.

I've had several walks logged as runs as I'm currently carrying an injury and I often find when I go for a run I can't manage it, in which case I'll then turn it into a walk (having started the Garmin on a run profile).

Thanks for your comments everyone. Interesting what Flanker says about older Garmins. Well, my opponent has logged an actual run this morning. Let’s see what the rest of the day brings. If he uploads anymore walks as runs though I may join him in doing that for this week.

My Garmin does not work out if I run or walk I change it to walk on my training page on Fetch and it quickly resets to the correct score.
