Given that scores trend upwards due to the scoring system, is it worth having the rating being a 12 month rolling score?
It would make it easier for newbies to get into the game in the future when dirtbum has a ranking of 5,945 or something in a year or two

Or the opposite view, you reward longevity?

I’m not sure that trundling around in the same 2 x 2 square for a year or more is the sort of behaviour that ought to be rewarded.

Some people pay for the pleasure of running around the same lake, day by day, month by month, year by year

Also +1 for no opt-in/opt out. Let's keep it simple.
Maybe it should be a rolling score over less than 12 months though? Can you imagine a newbie having to wait that long to approach the top of the leaderboard, that would take patience! I was a few weeks late signing up for WSW and I'm still catching up (at a rate of about +31 points a week). At least in Fetchpoint you can build a good score in 6 weeks from nothing.

perhaps we need a system where only your last say 10 scores count, allowing for a lot more movement.
