Wowsers! Aside from anything else, I'm reckoning that's somewhere north of 18 hours of action within a seven day period.

fetcheveryone I'm not so sure. I’ve a feeling that some of the activities run concurrently e.g. the long cycle ride is recorded constantly on a bike computer, while the small interruptions, jumping off walking and running are recorded separately on a watch. So I’d be mindful to look at the cycling time only as the total time.

If I’m wrong, I’m sure RunRuss will tell me.

If such practice is not in the spirit of the game, though commendably very clever tactics, then an algorithm to prevent small activities scoring within the time period of a longer activity, may fix it.

FatRayToSlim That was the basis of my original question.
I've followed the top competitors to get some base stats on strategy and saw the long bike with short runs & walks, all with the same timestamp (probably uploaded on return home).
I'm guessing this is just across sector boundaries, so 20m out / 20m back should be enough to bag 2 squares.
If you keep the same grid you'll know within a few meters how far you need to go.

fetcheveryone 18h? Daily Rule of Thirds: 8h Run, 8h Work, 8h Sleep. Repeat ;)

I log my very short dog go for a pee walks, purely to keep / bag the 2 squares that it gets me... but it's never gamesmanship of that level.

You guys are hardcore!

There was a time I would go out for a 10 mile run followed by a 10 mile walk, followed by a cycle, but then I started work and life got in the way!

You're wrong 🙂 No offence taken.

I only use one recording device, a very nice Garmin 255. No over-lapping activities.

Last week I was tapering for a trail marathon, so less running than normal and a bit of tactical short activities to protect key squares.

My personal rules include always:
* running when recording a run (only ever one foot on the ground)
* walking the walks (one foot is always on the ground)
* Cycling is always genuinely on my bike
* Never recording an activity while sitting in a car

Re: volume, I eat like a small greedy horse 🐎, but I want to collect 20 different sub-20 parkruns this year, so WSW and Fetchpoint provide welcome incentives to get out and burn calories to mitigate weight gain 🍰

It also turns out I'm a sucker for a leaderboard, and get competitive. Sorry. I'd happily support a rule tweak to eg. exclude activities shorter than 1km.

Enjoy your squaring 😜

Ah, I was just about to ask if there was a minimum distance required for the squares to record, eg 1km as in other Fetch games

I’ve always gone with one outing from the house being one activity. I walk pretty much all the hills round my way so a 5 mile run could be 8 activities split into 4 runs and 4 walks but I don’t care that much. Each to their own and if someone is keen enough then good luck to them

I once split a run in two with a mid run grid move in a close match with someone at the top of the league.
