Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

34 squares for a just over 4.5 mile run (actually 4.8 cos I went a bit wrong).

Anyone tracking an "efficiency" measure? Max squares per min distance? Quite pleased with 34 as a start! :-) G

I just got 30 for a 4 miler. Quite pleased with that though I was aiming for max coverage over diagonals. 30-10 up against Greppers now.

Just nabbed 52 on a 6.4 mile run. I don't own any yet though!

8.1 for you sally, versus my lowly 7.1 - the WSW Efficiency Target or WETness number. Nice. Did you have to wiggle a lot to get them squares?! :-) G

If the grid is (as suggested in the game guide) approximately 2 miles along each side, then a straight run along one row would net you 15 squares in two miles. That's 7.5 squares per mile. (Maybe 8 per mile if you don't run right to each edge.)

That's pretty close to what G and McG obtained above. sallykate did slightly better.

G: 7.6 sq/mi
McG: 7.5 sq/mi
sk: 8.1 sq/mi

But if you had an almost straight road that ran exactly along the boundary between two rows in your grid, and you scored both rows all the way along, you could get 30 squares for the same two mile run. That would be 15 squares per mile!

You could score at a higher rate on a short run (eg if you walked four paces around an intersection between four squares), but probably not on a longer run. As for diagonals, someone else can take this on!

And if you don't have a fully paved fully accessible grid, it gets worse ...

I can't get anywhere close to that sort of square-bagging per mile without either trespassing on farmland or taking my chance with the traffic.

I'm not expecting to get through to the next round. Don't do enough different activities to get enough points to own any squares. Back at work this week so I don't have enough time for huge quantities. It's only a game so I'll try not to sulk ;-)

Though I am wondering if I could co-incide a week off with the next 2nd week round and see what I can achieve...

I did a bit of strategic dashing down side roads where I knew I was near a square - you can probably tell that from the route if you looked at it. One of my local non-Fetchie friends finds some of my routes (shared on, ahem, another site) hilarious.

I've just got 58 squares from a 6.5 mile run, so 8.9 sq/mi. A few hundred metres of it was out of grid, and there were several out and back sections (footpath stops at the farmhouse, main road runs out of pavement, no bridge over the river) where I was going over already covered ground. I'm sure several of my routes are more efficient than this.
