Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

When did you last give blood?

Well out of my last 4 donation appointments 3 have been cancelled an hour or two before the appointed time "due to unforeseen circumstances". While I appreciate that there may be staff shortages or equipment malfunctions the problem is that there's no quick follow-up from the Blood and Transplant Service to rearrange the appointment.

When I had an appointment cancelled a couple of years ago and forgot to arrange an alternative appointment for myself it was many weeks before anyone contacted me about arranging a new donation.

Maybe its just a problem in my part of the world but I'm sure they're missing out on donations because of this.

Back on Terry Pratchett for donation reading matter and was laid next to a true fan. We had a favourite character discussion.

Plasma donation at Reading donation centre. 40 mins, salt and vinegar, orange club and lemon squash.

A reminder of why we all give or have given blood (still quite upset that I cannot do it for a few years)

My best friends sister in law was stabbed multiple times a few days ago and is still in a critical condition. I understand she should make a 99% recovery and the person who did this is going to be in court for attempted murder in a few days time.

I have no doubt that she will have benefited from transfusions that will have saved her life.
