Depends how you mean it. I never said out loud that my dog was my daughter, that sounds like something an insane person would do. She was, however, as important (if not more so) than a daughter would be to me, and i'm guessing it is this version you hate?
Guessed wrong. Dave nails it. "Here's a picture of Fluffy loving his mummy". No Sandra, his mum was a cat, you're just his willing slave...

(when anyone has been wantonly twee or halfwitted enough to ask one of our dogs 'where's your mummy going, hey?', or anything to that effect, I've quite enjoyed the blue screen of death face they make when I reply 'I imagine his/her mummy is long dead in a ditch somewhere in Spain')

Just-eat, Deliveroo and Uber-eats. First world problems I know. But the latter has never worked. The former apparently delivered my takeaway an hour and 15 minutes ago but its not here. There is nowhere to complain on the night.
Saying former and latter in reference to lists of more than two π π€
Former and latter are comparatives not superlatives: they compare two things. The corresponding words where there are more than two in the list are first and last. Even the BBC website gets it wrong: Iβm being flippant in quoting the above post and Iβm well aware that picking up on grammar and spelling on an Internet forum is a serious breach of what used to be called Netiquette, so I really donβt mean it like that. But people who are PAID to write should be able to write correctly.
