Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

What minor disaster has befallen you today?

All of my pre-set DAB radio channels disappeared in the car. Not the first time it's happened.

I’ve not got my head around DAB yet. Considering that I’ve worked with radio of various types for all of my professional life I think that that's pretty poor.

I heard a colleague coughing in another room and shouted, "I hope that's just fag ash that's gone down the wrong way and not COVID." Turned out the poor woman was having an asthma attack. It was only a minor disaster because someone more competent than me got her some treatment and she survived.

I forwarded on an email that clearly said at the top that it shouldn’t be forwarded on. To 3 people. I recalled it successfully from the first, asked the second to delete it then delete it permanently, and left a message with the third person. Then I called the person who sent it to me and fessed up. She said it was ok and then checked with someone else who also said it wasn’t a problem. I felt sick for about 10 minutes.

It could actually have been a much more major disaster, I was lucky.

Went to Asda to buy some cheaper petrol. Had a mooch round the store first (tiring my already tired legs even further) but didn't actually buy anything. Bought my fuel, which was cheaper, but somewhere along the way the fiver which was in my pocket disappeared.

was making coconut curried cauliflower soup - and it came to adding the coconut milk... pushed the solid layer a bit too hard so about half the can ended up over me, the hob and the floor ☹.

Filled up at Asda as diesel at £1.70 seemed a good deal. On way home passed my normal station that is being redeveloped and saw that it had reopened with diesel at £1.62

Dropped a cake as I was taking it out of the oven. It was only a minor disaster as it landed the right way up, though the tin is now quite dented!

Sigh
Filling up the "Brita" water jug from the tap, and the flap closed on the lid, causing my freshly worn t-shirt of all of five minutes became mildly wet from the splashing.
