The local moths and cockchafers are - temporarily - safe: last night Hobbesy ran at the cat flap so hard he knocked it off its hinges and broke it. I've had to gaffer tape it shut and we'll have to install a new one over the weekend!

Only just noticed this thread. I've laughed so hard that had tears coming out. Stumpy's seagull one & the worms on pillow.....so so funny. Needed that. I can totally relate to so many of the stories. My eldest, Freya, who just turned 12-14yrs yesterday, has only ever once caught a bird. It was years ago, it was still alive when she came charging through the open living room window with baby birds parents squaking & dive bombing her. She then proceeded to let the bird go, & I ended up calling out local wild animal rescue. Since then the most she catches are slugs on her long fur, & the occasional spider, which I don't mind if she munches it. Its the finding of legs which is gross. My youngest, Odin, who is turning 4yr next week, is the main killer, & rather efficient. He started off with frogs/toads, & leaving them alive in the water bowls, or playing with them making them scream. He then proceeded onto an array of wildlife, from baby/adult mice, shrews, voles, rats, birds, etc. The worst is when he bought something in late at night, went under the bed, positioned himself directly under where my head was, & started crunching up the poor mouse. However, he doesn't like his "gifts" being taken off, & growls if you try. Last year was a bit upsetting when he found a nest of baby starlings, went & got one, brought it home, ate it in the spare bedroom, went & got another & was about to kill it when we caught him. Problem was there was a leg on the floor, & was checking the baby bird still alive to see what was missing. Only realised then that he was emptying the nest.
No such "gifts" yet this year, though suspect he just eats Al Fresco instead. Either that or he's got lazy now. Nero doesn't seem to bother. He just stalks birds for fun, but never seen him catch anything.

Yuk!
I'm soooo glad my cat is too lazy to hunt! Howver, if my OH leaves a fiver on the table she'll have that away!! (If she sees it before I do!!) OH often asks "where's my money gone?" and looks at me AND the cat. I always blame the cat!

Ooooo, lovely. I nearly went arse over other day......looked like one of mine had projectile vomited from dining room, through the hallway into the living room. Why is it they do it when you're running late for work!

Ha ha, OH just reminded me that when boy2 was only 3 weeks old, one cat brought in a woodpigeon, still alive. Unfortunately in the process cat had obviously hit an artery and the thing was flapping at out back door spraying blood all over the kitchen. Being more than slightly hormonal at the time I panicked, making boy1 panic, eventually got the bird out of the house using a tea towel so I didn't have to touch it. Thankfully boy 2 slept through the whole thing but boy1 and I had to sit and watch some Thomas episodes before I'd calmed down enough to consider the cleanup operation.
I'd completely forgotten this, so I think my brain had deliberately erased it, it was so traumatic at the time.
