My oldest cat saw off a fox once, saw them from the upstairs back in Birmingham, and thought uh-oh here's trouble, but the cat smacked the fox in the face and it ran off hugely chastened. These days my cats just raid the bin or table tops often while the children are still there eating their tea, with complete bald effrontery, much easier than hunting.

red elastic bands are preferable to worms Amber - her there <<<<<< used to bring worms in and stuff them down the cushions on the settee. Woke up from a saturday afternoon nap with a wet cheek - thought I'd been drooling....but no..I'd been asleep on her secret stash of worms!

Bleughh! That's worse than stepping on the slugs that ours bring in. One of our cats is long haired and they seem to stick to her...

My cats rarely bring anything in, which might be because they never went outside until they were 18 months old (though I did once spend an entire day trying to rescue a mouse that one of them found. Suffice to say I managed to skin its tail and it died anyway).
When I was growing up our cats were very definitely outside cats and hunters -- lots of rabbits and pigeons, half eaten by the look of them, left on the lawn.
LOL at the elastic bands -- mine love them! And pipe cleaners.

I shouldn't have started reading this thread, stayed up much later than planned. My cat when I was younger never brought stuff into the house but used to catch rabbits and pheasants etc. Don't remember ever seeing mice. The other cat, a bit daft in the head, used to catch dragonflies and butterflies, and the odd snail.
