To quote RevBarbarG's post page 1416 of the mundane thread "Hysteresis is a phenomenon in which the switch point depends on the direction of travel. If your thermostat is set to 19 degrees, your boiler will turn off when the room temp rises above 20 degrees, and back on again when it drops below 18. This is to stop the boiler turning off and on too rapidly. Think about it... If the temp is 19 degrees, should the boiler be off or on? Answer - it depends whether it is rising or falling. " |
