Meanwhile in Arizona, a full scale "UFO flap" has been going on, where car headlights on a mountainside have been labelled as floating orbs in a photo. Metabunk has patiently superimposed daytime photos over night time photos to demonstrate this, but they're not having it. This is the problem people are far too credulous. Assume natural explanations first, but no.

Nice bit of debunking of it here: metabunk.org

The drone thing hits two weeks here and still going. The US TV networks have gone in on it full time now there are drones in New Jersey and near Trump's place. Must admit the lack of curiosity on here is weird, two weeks solid of drone activity of a US airbase in the UK that so much so that it spooks the locals. Now it's in the US. Not worthy of comment?

And apparently the drones now appear over FBI agents homes who investigate the drones (apologies for linking to a Fox news vid - which references this):

x.com

It has all the hallmarks of Russian/Chinese psy-ops (Guardian journo Luke Harding reported multiple break ins when living in Russia where nothing would be taken, but the toilet would be left unflushed, or books moved around - apparently classic FSB/KGB tactics, let people know they're being watched, he eventually got deported!) and here again let US know they're being watched.

So drones ranging in size from hobbyist to small car size being observed all over bases in the US and not being shot down/prevented mostly. Witnesses say they're slow moving, clumsy, noisy mainly, obviously man-made. So why are people acting like it's not happening? It is. It looks very terrestial, but it's still weird and intriguing.

(and why am I not posting in this politics say - well it's because of people's reactions to weirdness interest me. I'm pretty damn sceptical, but I like engaging, others seem like "nothing to see here" just seems odd to me. I mean Greg effing Wallace was headline news for most of one day on the BBC, when Russia, Gaza, Syria etc were all more obviously newsworthy, and even this was/is )

What do you expect people to say? Yes there are drones, they are hard to identify, track and (safely) destroy. Shrug. Awful I know but what am I supposed to do about it?

Random drone activity seems to be more a problem for those under the drones than anyone else.

What does "It has all the hallmarks of Russian/Chinese psy-ops" mean? More likely than aliens maybe, but what is the evidence? We need more than an unrelated anecdote about Russia and something from Fox News.

The Russians have a nice compliant new president to manipulate, why would they bother with drones?

My guess falls somewhere between crop circles and Havana Syndrome.

The coverage of celebrity culture rather than genocide in the 'news' is a problem, but not the same problem.

Fair points - well the small car sized drones seem to be beyond hobbyist (if not hysteria) , and also from drone operators in general saying "if I flew a drone anywhere near an airport I get a police visit within hours". But yeah it does feel a bit crop circle-y.

Having said that I had read something on Havana Syndrome that they did think it was real - "Russian Sonic weapons", didn't the Insider do an investigation: bbc.co.uk

But yeah it was "disputed" even now. But the fact that JD Vance rubbished it made me think there's got to be something in it.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day, Chrisull. Havana Syndrome is a psychological effect, not the effect of a weapon.
