Totally battered by Wham over the weekend! The price of moving in polite society!

Just got hit on the radio. At least, the radio presenter warned the audience "and now a classic that is fun for some but not so much for others, it's Wham with Last Christmas" (translated from German).

I'm beginning to think that the game is catching on in Germany. Maybe they got some complaints after playing a few words of it in their medley to advertise their Christmas channels. That's what got me last week. Today is the first time I heard it in its entirety.

Problem if it catches on too much is the removal of jeopardy. It'd be like playing it in July.

No jeopardy for me today, wfh and no shopping to do, so I have Spotify playing friendly music.

Yeah, I was in an ice rink for over 2 hours on Friday and heard everything except that. Also didn't hear it in any shops all day yesterday. Did hear the awful cover in Costa.

No real danger today, not many people in the office on a Monday and no music.

Am living it up in Whamhalla

Watched Last Christmas the film last night and currently watching the documentary from Saturday :)
Live recognising the Smash Hits covers and posters that I had of Andrew and George on my bedroom wall 😍

I’m still in somehow. I don’t really listen to the radio but I’m well aware of all of those sneaky little background annoyances where it may crop up, plus works Christmas outing this weekend where it’s bound to be played grrrr

About This Thread

GOOGLE SHEET HERE:

docs.google.com

Sheet for 2024 is on the first tab; you update your own entry. As with previous years, we're also tracking the number of repeated 'hits' for those who are out before the end (if you want to).

Who's up for the challenge then? whamageddon.com

"The 1st Rule
The objective is to go as long as possible without hearing WHAM's Christmas classic; "Last Christmas".

The 2nd Rule
The game starts on December 1st, and finishes at the end of December 24th.
Use your local timezone, if you'd like.

The 3rd Rule
Only the original version applies.

The 4th Rule
You're out as soon as you recognise the song.

Player vs Player?
While we can't stop you from deliberately sending your friends to Whamhalla, the intention is that this is a survival game. Not a Battle Royale. So ... don't be a dick, okay?"
