Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

One of these days I'm going to come out of that ballot. I've never raced in the States and it would be ace to hoover up some beta ahead of time. Would love to hear your Western States stories

I'm not, but I'd like to be! That and UTMB have to be the most famous 100 milers in the world, right?

I often wonder if West Highland Way race (96 miles) would benefit from an extra 4, to make it a magic 100. Probably not. And it's already over subscribed, so it doesn't need any more popularity! Mattykay, WSER is iconic - good luck to anyone doing it. :-) G

If you've not seen it already, then the race listing fetcheveryone.com/races/western-states-100-7054333
shows who ran it each year ( change the year in the drop down at the top ), and also shows any linked blogs - there's only one from Ammon in 2019, but it's quite a long detailed one, so you may find some good info there.

On the flip side, I hate making it numbers for numbers sake. A classic route is a classic route and doesn't need manufactured numbers but that's just me.

Though, theoretically neither WSER (100.5m) nor UTMB (106? / 108?) are 100 miles.

There's obviously a whole bunch of videos on YT about the race, The ginger Runner has a selection of good ones:

Billy Yang's Life in a day is almost feature length, and another great watch.

Thanks gang yes, I'm seven years into the ballot process which is next drawn in December and it's getting to the point where I might get drawn out this year or next. Thanks K5, I might be getting in touch with a few folks listed there.
