I’ve done triathlons and running races which were apocalyptically wet in neoprene.

I have a 2mm neoprene long sleeved rash vest, shorts, socks and gloves.

Nothing truly keeps epic rain out long term but I’ve done some proper wet long events and been fine - warm and wet is fine. Make great wind barriers too.

I have an Asics waterproof (ish) jacket, it's the best I have in the wind and rain. It has a hood that I don't use, but I have to make sure the hood is inside out otherwise it collects a big puddle of water which I will then accidentally pour over myself taking the jacket off.

I only use the one I mentioned for walking, not running. I just get wet if I run in the rain.

I've given up trying to stay dry, now I just make sure I stay warm. I'm not out for more than a couple of hours though which probably makes it easier.

I have a pair of waterproof OMM shorts for this very reason, which I can pull over mid-run from a minimal waist belt if it starts raining seriously.

I obviously angered the rain gods as it absolutely hammered it down for the last 5 minutes of my walk! Didn't have a coat or an umbrella, I was wringing water out of my clothes when I got home :-o

@NordRunner My Mrs has the skirt equivalent of the OMM waterproof shorts; it works brilliantly, and you can put it on and off much quicker than shorts. I'm sure they could market a man's version as a kilt or something.

I don't run much any more, but when I did, I never wore a waterproof. Couldn't see the point. Just made me hot and sweat more.

I never seemed to find a really waterproof "waterproof", so a couple of years ago I spent nearly £400 on one, and that's been great, worth spending a bit(lot) more. Can't remember the make at the moment.

Or are they?

Anyone own one that is a) actually waterproof and b) stayed actually waterproof after how many months?
