I've just read this: Three Drinks Stations will be trialling compostable cups instead of bottles this year. Water stations at miles 10 and 19 and Lucozade Sport at mile 23 will offer drinks in compostable cups. Try drinking from a cup in training before Race Day.
So the final lucozade bottle stop is at 19miles and a gulp at 23 miles will have to give enough energy for the final 3 miles. I think I might need to request a lucozade bottle from the fetch supporters. I'm happy to provide one if I can meet up with someone at the expo/pre race.

The expo, even when busy, has been incredibly efficient in my previous 2 experiences. They are bliddy good at this organisation thing.
Hoping DLR closures don't cause too much chaos. I guess as everyone is in same boat, they will just need to find a way to shuffle us all there. All we can do is leave a little earlier to allow enough time. I was in Greenwich park ridiculously early previously, so I tend to err on the side of caution with times!
3rd London 14th Marathon (26th marathon or longer) PB 02:57:37 London 2013 Target around 03:45? (Chance for a chat with others around this pace - Jovi?!) Drinks - Yes @ Chandos after, though may not stay tooo long, as family duties. Expo - some time on Saturday
I do love this race! Watching the Commonwealth games on Gold Coast, being able to do VLM makes me feel like a "sort of " athlete. Agree that Tower Bridge noise (and many other places) is bonkers but try and soak it up and use it to spur you on. Good luck everyone! G

I'm going to get a load of new Fetchie stickers for me sticker book. I will be very obviously in Fetch garb. Please identify yourselves in Expo, on the start line, during the race etc. if you are not! (A Fetch buff may not count, because by mile 20, I can't usually see straight! ) G

Bit late to the thread I know 😂 This is my first marathin...ever! I'm in the blue start and my race number is 10230.
Had a few injury niggles affecting my training but would like to finish in under 5 hours

As there is a captive audience... question for the people that have done London before...
How big is the kit bag that you have to use on the day?
Is it big enough to fit a backpack in?
I'm staying over on the Saturday night but going home on the Sunday. Apparently I do get late check out on my room but not sure what time yet but also will be going to the post-race function for the charity I'm running for so ideally want to check out before the race and put everything in the kit bag on the baggage bus so I don't have to go back to the hotel afterwards.

Depends how big a rucksack Hally? I'd say no, not really. It's a big carrier bag size, like an Ikea bag, if you know what I mean. You could theoretically squeeze a small rucksack in it, but not a big, full one. Sorry, that prob doesn't help much.

Hally, I put a small rucksack in the kit bag when I ran 2 years ago but I didn't have loads of stuff packed in it so it probably squashed down quite a bit.
Does anyone have any tips for getting from St Pancras to the Excel centre for the Expo?
