Pikelet, the Transport for London Journey Planner is good and should have different options even if the DLR isn't running. tfl.gov.uk

In the last 2 years the VLM kit bag has got much smaller and is now see through (security measure?). Personally I;d say there is no chance now of getting a rugsack in it other than a very small one. I;d say the bag is now not much bigger than the plastic bag you'd get at a running shop if you bought, say a pair of shoes. A few years ago you'd definitely have got a rugsack in but not sure you would now.

The kit bags were approx 55 x 45cm at last year's VMLM and at this years Big Half, big enough to stick a standard size rucksack. So something like a full Karrimor Urban 30 (30 litre volume) ( www.sportsdirect.com/karrimor-urban-30-rucksack-791000 ) fits in easily, but not much extra. I know plenty of people who have manage to stick a overnight bag in fine... just don't overpack.

Thanks for the kit bag feedback... The rucksack I will be using is a 30l Berghaus one that looks like it's probably a similar size to the Karrimor one so I'll pack as light as I can and keep my fingers crossed. About the only good thing about the predicted hot weather is that there won't be any need to pack extra layers!!
