statslife.org.uk Interesting little article about ballot numbers and probabilities. But someone has probably already posted this link earlier |

Interesting figures. My best bet might be getting a GFA entry, providing I maintain the same pace and fitness for many years to come, and get in when I'm 70.

FFS. Club place allocation has changed. Our club membership has exploded but we now have fewer club places

I thought the club allocation had changed as well, my friend said I was imagining things. 1-99 members = 1 place 100-199= 2 places 200-299 = 3 places 300 + = 4 places Not exactly a generous allocation |

Damn. My club had just got to the over 60 mark so we were expecting 2 places. Thats my chances dwindling further. Missed out on ballot, completely blew up at Chester while attempting 2.45 and had to drop out, and last hope was that the club would have a couple of places, but 1 place is unlikely to go to me.

My club were expecting 2 places too. And this is the first year that loads of members have suddenly become interested in running 26.2 miles! Might end up being about the same odds in the club hat as in the ballot

FreshStart: you are right, the old club allocation can be found here. englandathletics.org I didn't know the formula was published in advance. Our club should get three places. I am wondering if we should draw the entries now, before they are officially confirmed, so the lucky winners can plan ahead and don't miss out on three months of training. If we wait the earliest we can do the draw is December. Of course I'm aware that might be asking for trouble - and there's a risk that for some reason we don't get 3 places and people might be left disappointed. A question for those who've dealt with club applications - have you ever had your club rejected or given fewer places than you were expecting? |

Spleen, your club can apply now and will be advised within 15 days. If you are not then they provide a telephone number to ring. There's no waiting until December In the 20 odd years I've been handling them for my club they've never failed to hit their own deadlines I applied for ours yesterday Where people get caught out is when they don't meet VLM's deadlines or rules. Eg it's based on EA paid up affiliated members, not total club members and applications for places and confirmed names must be made within time. Out of time and there is no recourse!! Hope that helps |
