I'm afraid you have swapped a crap diet for a vegetarian fruit and crap diet G, which may not be ideal. Do what LMH tells you!
Over 50 you will possibly not absorb nutrients as well, plus you need to counteract the negative effects of aging (especially loss of muscle mass). So a balanced diet becomes more important.
I've also had no problems with anaemia despite not eating meat for over half my life (I do eat fish and seafood as a compromise with my wife which makes getting certain dietary components easier). Even doing 70 -80 mpw at times.

We've stopped eating meat, still eat fish, eggs and cheese. Tonight was Thai curry with quorn pieces. Tastes every bit as good as chicken.:)

Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
I have stopped eating meat, I was delighted to find some super green veg and lentil sausages, as I took them out of the fridge to cook some for my dinner I noticed the word pork! ah well, at least I had some veggie lasagne in the freezer that I had made before.

Yes, you have to read the labels or it's easy to be caught out.

Jono.
last year me and Mrs J spurred on by Molly J going veggie, decided that we would only eat meat on a sunday, I'd thought for some time that we ate too much meat and most of it was crap processed meat, irrespective of where we buy it from - it was a bit difficult at first and we tried various Qourn products - but qourn is like methadone, we no longer use it.
we are not absolute veggies and will eat the odd food item that is not suitable for veggies - a pudding for instance & we have not found a decent substitute for sausages!
However we will eat vegan food from time to time - plus there is a lot of choice around now and a whole batch of restaurants opening up to serve veggie food even junk food!!! (which obviously you treat that same as any other junk food)
I along with many others I used to scoff at veggies and vegans, but I am absolutely convinced that meat production is harmful to the planet and we all need to eat less meat.
So the personal benefits - I feel better, I'm not sure if that's just in my head - its easier to maintain a weight of 12st.

Nearly two weeks into a strict vegan diet and other than struggling with sciatica and I’m feeling great. Most of our stuff is prepared at home so we know what goes into it but it’s bren useful downloading a couple of scanner apps to check whether stuff is vegan friendly when in the supermarket. We haven’t eaten meat for a long time but kept on with eating fish, I guess that made the transition a little easier for us but it has at least forced us to look to freshen up our meals.
Veg Chillu has been a staple dish of ours for years and is so easy to make lots of and freeze extra portions. Tofu and Spinach paneer was a definite favourite this week as were vegan shortbread biscuits, they were far too good.

Veggie chilli has been my staple for 26 years of not eating meat. Lots of ways to serve it, simple, cooks in big batches (made one last night), freezes well, ingredients available in every country I have lived in.
Can necessitate toilet stops on early morning runs though!
