I tend to get higher division ranking on 5 mi and 10 mi, and a bit worse on 5 km. Maybe it's because of how often people take a decent shot at these distances. The long tail of the 5 km will get hit more often what with the amount of people doing parkruns, for example.

Yeah I think it's what Steve said. Also, those who train well for a marathon and convert well to longer distances will get good WAVAs, rather than having "inherent" speed.
I always got best WAVAs at shorter distances - rugby players legs! I don't know why I ever got into marathon, to be honest! oh, cos it's seen, obviously! G

I've added a bike league now too
I copied across everyone from the running league who had logged some biking (about half of those who play standard UTMOST). I've created the divisions based on ability (I put every person in the same division initially, then ran the standard algorithm to order everyone).
I've also amended the distance categories. Instead of being Mile to Marathon, the bike distances go from 10k up to 100k. We can all get a fast mile by finding a big hill - but I wanted to gently discourage hurtling A minimum of 10k means you probably need to do a bit of up and down.

NB I am aware that no-one below division 5 has got a 100k time, at present. But bear in mind that it is only 5 of your distances that count. So you can still get 100 points in your group with a maximum ride of 40 miles.

Woohoo! Top place in Div19 WAVA following the re-running. Went down a couple leagues but got a better chance of some promotions now. Clearly all my good WAVA scores were hidden in races and my everyday runs are sandbagging me.

Right now the sub-category of electric biking shows up. I do a lot of this, on my way to and from runs. Should I quietly remove myself from the biking UTMOST? I'm not sure what my placement by «ability» means, but if it's speed it might be better to exclude myself.

Ah. Forgot to exclude some categories I'm just heading out for a ride myself - I'll tidy up when I'm back.

Loving the wava League. Bike not so much, as the handful of rides I log have me propping up the entire league. One ten mile ride would change things a lot though, not least because my one scoring ride had a two hour break in it for tea at a friend's place and is extremely easy to improve
