Mine are splitting and I had to replace the footbeds as they had worn/squashed very thin - reckon I'll get quite a few miles out of them yet, but I'm making them last by only wearing them when it's very muddy and I know that means I'm going to be caught out risking the "ultras" OH bought me some salomon x screams for Christmas last yr from go outdoors, but they are even more dry weather shoes than the 290s ![]() My narrow heels and fat toes mean that inov-8s fit me nicely, but maybe I need to go to an actual shop and try on some other brands ? |

I love my Inov8s and especially the Rockies I have a pair of the ultras but definitely not good for really even vaguely slippery conditions. I went rogue and bout some Salomon Speedcross a couple of months ago. They're ok but nowhere near as grippy as the Roclites and the tie box feels like it would be too narrow on anything longer than a marathon. I'm wearing them for some LSRs but will be going back to Inov8 The marathon I did on Sunday was actually too muddy for the Roclites I need something grippier Must Buy Shoes |

Oh sod it! both roclites and terraclaw fell into my Wiggle basket - making the total over £200 with what I was ordering for part of daughter's Christmas present - and seeing as they've got £40 off discount on £200 that makes the roclite 280s only £20 - be rude not too ![]() |

what are your go to mud shoes then FR? although, I suppose if Inov-8s wreck your feet then maybe your make wouldn't be right for me |

Unless running really long distances, as in over 50+ miles (Hoka territory), I've used Adidas Kanadia or Mizuno's (that you can't buy any more)

Not usually a fan of Salomon but I found thier "X Scream" shoes a pretty good hybrid for road and easy trail. They are half price on sportpursuit (this is an affiliate link ![]() sportpursuit.com Am currently running in Newton Bocas (which I also bought from here but can't see them at the moment). They are working pretty well in the mud/clay. I don't think there has ever bee a shoe that works really well on both road and muddy trail. In fact unless you get spikes or walshes I don't think there has ever been a great mud shoe! |

I like my x-screams - but they're not much good on proper mud ![]() seeing as the paths between the fields out the back of home look like this at the moment: and then there is and to negotiate if I go the other way, maybe I should just get some wellies? |

I couldn't get kanadias to fit FR, to narrow on the forefoot and/or too sloppy around the heel ![]() |
