I did feel like 15/15 was maybe too much. 10/15 seems more sensible.

It is all down to experience and ability. Some people have enough experience and ability that they can 'blag' a 100-miler. Some will scarely 'blag' a 50k.

I don't think 15/15 is too bad at all necessarily. But if you think you'd prefer 10/15, do the 15 on day 1, and see how you feel on day 2, that way if you only want to do 10, then at least you've done 15/10, but if your body is happy 15/15 will be good training.

Focus on endurance so keep it slow, but listen to what your body wants to do. And if possible with limitations of carrying food etc, but try listen to what food your body wants too.

When did "blagging" enter the equation? *confused*

I'm gonna do the work if my body lets me. And if it doesn't then...no ultra, frankly. And I've got until May...

I ran my first ultra (46 miles) on the back of just consistent base running.

Jan-July I’d be running 100-140 mile months but with a few longer runs, max before that was a marathon 5 months prior and then a just-over marathon distance trail run 2 months before.

Otherwise just some 10-13 weekend runs and whatever in the week.

Was very much a complete rather than compete and walking hills but it’s just about keeping moving at the end of the day.

I ran a 55k ultra in June this year off a 16 week 4-hour marathon program. I tweaked it very slightly, reducing the speed elements (apart from parkrun) and increasing mileage slightly. Longest run was about 20 miles which I did twice plus a few 18s. Mostly ran 5 days a week with a few 4s in there too. I tried to include hills regularly as well.

Thanks for those, tommy_b and pothunter.

In truth I've done two 40 milers before on much less than ideal training. And a last minute mountain marathon on sprint distance triathlon training (poor route choice on the first day and being out for 8 hours as well)... but I was younger then.

My current plan is building up slowly but it will get to 30-40 mile weeks, running 5 or 6 days, with 16, 18, 20 mile long runs, the 15/15 back to back and the Big Day Out walks in there too (which may turn into run-walk yomps). I don't think I'm too wide of the mark with that.

Yoga in progress. Strength training with weights and that going to begin ASAP.

Not sure what to do for "mental training". Would suggest am mental enough already? 🤔
