Grand Day out on the LT 100k course on Saturday - bit warm but a pleasure to be out in the Lakes and quite fun sharing a mutual and entirely unspoken pace sharing agreement with flanker (until experience kicked in and he buggered off and left me about 20k from the end)
Anyway - I'm now thinking about an answer to his 'So what's next then?' question at the finish. 'Pizza and Beer' seemed a satisfactory and truthful answer at the time but not really what he meant
I'm looking at the Brathay 50k event in September and I have a road marathon lined up in October but beyond that I'm open to suggestions. I don't feel ready for anything longer than 100k just yet, can't see myself doing multi-day events and would much prefer trail to tarmac. Marked routes would be preferred but I'll not ruile out anything with a decent route book. Ideas welcome - thanks.

Lakes in a Day I believe is in November, and heard very good things about it. Though I suspect it'll be full already.

Thanks Paul - looks like Lakes in a Day is in October so doesn't really fit this year but is one to consider for 2023. I'm also going to have a look at some of the suggestions offered to Anna last week.

Also a good option within the criteria outlined
Probably not for 2023 since I ran it this year (no way you'd have known without going to look at my profile - and why would you do that?) so some variation would be preferred. Lakes Traverse in April looks a possibility though

LL50 is a great route. Needs nav, via route book, but one recce and you’ll be fine.

Also on the maybe pile - should probably look out arrangements for the ballot?
Good to see you on Friday Dave - apologies for buggering off from the field shortly before you finished on Saturday

I’ve heard you had a date with pizza and beer. I’d have buggered off too. Glad you enjoyed it, good to see you.

Yep, great day out on the LT 100k, and really interesting that Andy & I where very similarly matched in pace, despite very different physiques & strengths. (with my little legs I can't walk as fast as he can!). And sorry for buggering off, but I suddenly realised that the course PB that seemed to have been long gone was back on the cards again.
If you want a good, but tough, event for next year I'd consider Fellsman.
After two months of minimal running, due covid & straining both calf muscles I was really happy to turn in a decent performance, and a PB in that heat was a real bonus. Gives me a bit more confidence for the L100 in three weeks. Hopefully it'll be cooler!
