Our house purchase has fallen through because the seller's developers have changed their completion date from June (back in April) to October (this week). This is the second time the date has changed enough to require a new mortgage offer. I was all psyched up to move to our new house, including having guests to stay, a house warming and how we were going to set up the garage with our "toys". I'm half tempted to hold on some more, but as the developers are clearly deceptive little $%^&*, we probably shouldn't.
GAH!

Now the owner of the original house wants to exchange now with a guaranteed October completion date.
We've looked at some others, but mostly haven't really found anything we really like, so we're going to look round the original house again (9 months later) and see whether we want to hang on until October after all.
What a palaver. Thank goodness we're renting and not in a chain.

Sorry to hear that it's all dragging on GG. It is a stressful process and more so because however hard you try not to get emotionally vested in moving, the new house, etc you can't help doing it a bit. We have had a few viewers but it's pretty quiet and I just want to get an offer so we can get on with finding somewhere. It's all so frustrating. Have reduced price a bit, but might need to go down a bit more, which is ok as long as what we buy is reduced down too.

I haven't even got to the palaver stage. It's crazy in Bristol.
I've had 5 viewings booked in this week. Two yesterday and I offered on one which I've not heard back on so I expect I was outbid or the estate agents didn't put me forward. (I wouldn't put it past them.)
I went to one earlier which was really nice but no dogs allowed in the building, even though it was ground floor and right next to a huge green space.
Cancelled one this afternoon as it was out of the area I wanted to be in and I couldn't be arsed to waste my time.
One more on Sat but it's out of my price range. Going to see it as it's a resale/reduced property. There are quite a few of those around at the mo. I guess buyers fell through.
I only got to see these because I've been allowed to reduce my working week for 3 months due to family issues. If I hadn't have been around on Mon and Tues, I wouldn't have even got a look as places go in the first day usually if they're any good.
I'm going to ask someone I know who's in the same position as me if she wants to buy with me and convert somewhere into a flat each!! I'll see if she's amenable to looking into this together as there are a lot more houses then flats out there.

It's been a year and 2 months. I need to find a new place to live by the end of this month too.

Bristol seems to have always been crazy, even when I was a student back in 1999 we looked into buying something to share with my friends and anything suitable would be gone before you could book to see it. I'm sure people just offered off the details without viewing.

Asking for some advice readers please.
Looked at a top floor flat last week. I don't really want first or second floor but I've been unsuccessful so far with garden flats. Anyway, the 2 other flats in the building are going to be available. Prior to the viewing, I chatted to the guy doing up the ground floor flat who quickly showed me round - he is the owner. He was very amenable to me putting an offer in and getting it done and dusted so on completion someone is ready to move in. This will be great for me and my family because my dad struggles with stairs, he's on his own and the rest of the family are in Scotland. There is room for him to stay and plenty to do locally. I called in again today to chat to the owner and let him know what I'd like to offer. He showed me the flat again and said his son is the liaison with the agent so I need to go back to the agent. He reiterated that he's keen to get the wheels in motion on a sale with me.
I've left a message for the agent twice to ask if they put in my bid. No call back. While I realise it's not yet market-ready is there any way I can push to get a jump on the competition? Do you think they don't want to risk someone pulling out before the refurb's done? If that's the case, I think they should let me know. I find it rude that they won't talk to me and sort out my offer. I thought agents had to put in all offers they received.

Sounds odd, usually agents are quick to put offers and get back to people in my experience.

I spoke to another person at the estate agents and offered. They pushed me up 3 thousand which is at my limit of affordability and means I've got to beg, steal or borrow the sols, surveyors and stamp and move in with nothing. At least I've had an offer accepted, so all being well it goes forward.
I need to move again as my pal is back from working in Italy. Someone I know has a place he's doing up room by room so I can have cheap rent until I move and the use of a very large lounge to sleep and eat in, the kitchen and the bathroom. Phew - sorted for the immediate future with a roof over my head.
When I move, I'll need to put curtains or blinds + a washing machine and fridge on a zero interest credit card if I can get one. The purchase is going to clean me out. I also want to look at security. There's a vulnerable side window to the property which I need to get a wrought iron cover on or summat. It's an end terrace garden flat.
