Our moving date has moved back at least 2 months. Each delay has been just short enough to not bother going through the process of putting in an offer on somewhere else. I kind of have my heart set on it now though.

That's a shame Grast Girl - now you need to be v patient. Fingers crossed.
I have put an offer in on a 1-bed garden flat and had it accepted. I'm trying to find a surveyor but it's not easy without recommendations. People use them so infrequently.
In the meantime I'm trying to do some homework on the property as the owners are selling it after only having it for 4 years (it's 2 flats). It was converted in 2005 and they bought it in 2014 but at auction. Seems strange that they bought 2 flats in one building via auction. Looks like the top floor has an attic room too. Have to be prepared to pull out if it needs serious works and that isn't taken off the price.

Don’t the mortgage company send their own surveyor?

Yes they do Meglet. I could ask them for a recommendation. I use Principality and they've been good.

I've had to pull out of the purchase (no costs incurred). There's scant information out there on criss-cross leases. They are apparently a pain in the arse to unravel and you need to ensure both parties in the building hold the leasehold and the freehold title. The seller didn't know the term left to go on the lease! He'd sent the documents to his solicitors without knowing or noting it. There are 2 sellers listed, so you'd think one of them would have this information in their mind. Also, something just doesn't feel right.

I’ve no idea what a criss-cross lease is but it sounds like a right pain and the sort of thing that would make selling difficult in future.
Keeping my fingers crossed you find something else. At least it didn’t cost you anything

They're not common. It's so difficult on my budget. Sharing a building can be a pain but I can't afford a house.
