There's a town house I really like. Been on the market for a while, currently has tenants but they're going soon. But really need to wait until I have an offer. There's nothing else I've seen that I really like.

Things are thin on the ground this way; nothing I like either. There's one nice house but in wrong area. (Full view of big tower block and some industrial units close by.)

Ah - found another water ingress wreck in the next road to the 3-bedroomed place.

A better location and have booked to see it next Fri with a friend. I think it's a repossession. Here's the link:

Yes it is, isn't it? I'm not keen on the kitchen layout but maybe it could be incorporated into the dining room better in the future.

Again, they would need to accept a lower offer from me as I can't raise that much money. Agent feels this is a possible but it really depends on the level of the damage. I'll also have a chat to neighbours to get some history.

I'm confused why you want to buy such huge project houses when you also state you are working 7 days a week to save money, and can't afford to pay close to the full price.

When I move I won't be working 7 days a week. I've reduced it to 6 now as I need to view properties then it'll be down to 5 once I've moved.

These are the only kind of houses* I can afford/nearly afford. I hardly think 2 bedrooms constitutes huge and if you know Bristol prices, these are the lowest for somewhere within reasonable commuting distance.

Trying hard to avoid a leasehold. I wouldn't get a reasonable mortgage with the monthly management/service charges taken into account.

*I'm only trying to buy one :)

Hmm, I just think there's the potential to be a complete money pit, and if you've already stretched to purchase the place...

I'm generally put-off by doer-uppers, as I'd need to live there, work almost full time, and don't have any skills to carry out any of my own work. Supervising a small house project is bad enough, and I've also supervised a big conversion at work, there wasn't enough time in the day. I could accept having to redecorate and re-do bathroom or kitchen as long as the place was sound and it was mainly cosmetic

I don't have much choice, Meglet, unfortunately. An up-together house will be well outside what I can raise. I can only hope to put an offer in and keep some money aside to do immediate urgent works, stay with my pal down the road while that's happening, then move in properly and start doing rooms up month by month.

At least I can do extra shifts at weekends lifeguarding, which gives me the occasional bit of money for extras here and there hopefully.

I remember years ago when some of my friends struggled to buy their first houses, a lot of them bought places that needed loads of work and it took them a few years to do it. I'm years behind them but I've always been on a lowish wage so that's just the way it is. This, I have to say, is a bit of a dream for me, to have a house and be able to invite family and friends to stay.
