Evening all! Newbie question... has anybody ever put contact lenses in during T1? I really want to have another go at a sprint tri but I need to wear prescription goggles to swim, and I can't cycle or run in my glasses...
(I've done a few sprints in the past but since then I've had to have my corrective eye surgery reversed so my poor eyesight is a new limitation I didn't have before).
I'm getting back into swimming and cycling again as I can't run as often as I used to, so this feels like a logical next step for me but the eye thing is putting me off. I'm pretty proficient at putting my lenses in and am happy to spend the extra time in T1 doing it properly, but just wondered if anybody else has done it or been aware of others doing it!

I wear my contacts for the swim as well, and non prescription goggles.
I understand that there's a risk of some nasty eyeball eating bacterial thing getting on them when you use them for swimming, so I use disposables.

Yeah I'm paranoid about getting infection so I don't swim in contacts and my prescription goggles are fab!
Gobi, I have tried running in my glasses and it feels weird, almost like I get seasick! The prescription is pretty high plus my astigmatism doesnt help. Also I'd rather wear normal sunnies for cycle and run! I don't like my glasses so honestly there's probably some vanity there too.
I guess I need to weigh up the risk of swimming in lenses as a one-off v the faff of putting them in during T1....

I cycle / run in my glasses - use last year's prescription which I don't mind getting sweaty. Am trying contacts again soon in the hope of not having to buy prescription sunglasses and new prescription goggles...post lasering 12 years ago contacts don't quite sit right and now I'm long and short sighted. I swam in contacts in the past and would do again.

I get the seasickness thing! Not running or cycling though, mostly playing with my niece. I would be more concerned about introducing dirt trying to put lenses in in transition than it getting in swimming tbh.
