Off and running with 8 miles jogged. Seems that while I have dumped the headphones during lockdown the test of the world has gone mad for them. I'm all for choice but right now I value hearing people more than usual
Blog to wrap up May and talk June should be out later.

MA. I'm off out for a run in a bit before it gets too hot.
Gobi - going back to your wanger You said you don't feel tired from all that training. I'm also surprised how not knackered I feel from ramping up my volume so quickly after years of not a lot. I'm putting it down to losing my daily commute now I'm working from home so I'm getting more sleep and actually resting when I'm not training.
What's your theories?

Morning all. Yoga'd to the sound of sparrows in the garden. Noisy blighters! Bit of biking for me later
BC - I was getting more sleep initially and felt much better for it. The bird population seems to think I should get up when they do though :D

Ha! Yeah, I'm often woken at 5 or 6 but I've also found I'm in bed by 9 quite often now, nowt on the telly and got all my jobs done in the day so might as well hit the sack

BC - like you, no commuting means I am sleeping a little more and also more relaxed.
However, mainly it is the balance of my training
I'm already used to doing 70 - 80 hours a month so adding a chunk last month and then again this month has been easy due to adequate rest.
I train at the correct levels so my hard efforts are a relative small part of each week.
I binned all hard running so my legs are not getting smashed.

For me I don’t have long commutes but I am less stressed at work. Sleeping better, probably a bit more of it but work stress way down. Partly WFH but everyone seems less edgy, deadlines not life and death any more, people relaxed about things that can’t be done. It feels a bit like an August when half the office is away and things quieten down.
As a result I think I have more headroom for training stress and am recovering better. My last 2 100 hour months have been easier than many 70-80 hour months on top of ‘normal’ work.
Not racing may be helping as well, ie no TTs etc.

Interesting. My volume increase hasn't really seen an increase in hard sessions either, didn't think of that.
I'm really hoping I never go back to full time in the office! 2 days a week from home would make such a difference. For me it's not really the stress at work, I don't tend to get stressed about work very often but it's the stress of leaving work on time and the trains working to get home then run to get the kids before their childcare ends so I don't get a late fine and then ferrying them about to ballet/swimming or whatever

Your ‘system’ can only deal with a certain amount of stress. So other life factors impact how much training stress you can productively handle and of course adequate recovery is required for whatever stress you put yourself through.
