I love you guys. But yes, TRO, clubs buy balls in their thousands (there's a line item on the AGM report about how many we got through last year, but it's too dull to dig out right now).
As soon as they stop looking 'new', they are discarded. I genuinely don't know where they go. I'm hoping it's charity rather than landfill.

Our local tennis club gave us a load of “old” tennis balls for the Scouts to use last year. We offered to buy them but the club coach wouldn’t hear of it.

How I miss the more innocent times (before Operation Yewtree) when we could have asked Mecoatuppers what the Scouts did with the tennis coach's old balls.

I was going to suggest donating them to a school - we do experiments with ‘bouncy balls’ but then that might have led me to ask Greppers how bouncy his balls were

I will add a much-needed wholesome comment to this load of old balls: my friend June keeps my dog supplied with tubes and tubes of (hardly) worn-out balls. You could say they are the dog's b****cks. At least, you could if she were a male dog.

Going back a page or two I smoked for 14 years and a non smoker for 20 years, best decision I have ever made giving up.
