Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

TBR - there are two broad approaches.

The long-term investors looks for runners who are expected to increase their overall 90-day running mileage total. As an extreme example, if you find a runner who regularly runs 100 miles a month but was injured throughout September and did no mileage, buy them at the start of December and watch their value rise from 200 (0+100+100: Sept+Oct+Nov) to 300 by the end of the month. Then sell them and "bank" your gains. Equally if you know someone is going to increase mileage as part of a training programme or because they have signed up to a Fetch game, buy them.

The short-term investors (in other words everyone on the leaderboard just now) buy and sell within the same day and earn short-term gains. They look for a runner who announces a run or some planned activity on the ticker, in this thread, in other threads etc etc and buy them, then sell again as soon as they have uploaded the run.

This second approach is the optimum strategy for the game under present rules because, although the total is a 90-day running total, gains are earned as soon as the run is uploaded and losses only occur at midnight, ie at the end of the calendar day 90 days after an old run "drops off". It's the way the experts play, but it needs a lot of monitoring to do well at it. There are other techniques, but I won't reveal them all ...

I joined as a tradeable runner in late October at 129. Got to 220 today and should go through 230 on Wednesday. So, if you bought me on day 1 you’ll be getting 100+ profit this week. Still on track to be upwards of 265 by end of November.

I said I'd switch to long term investing once I had my 5000 badge, but I'm enjoying stalking the training of a limited number of runners. It's a bit like Who's Been Training in the olden days before it became millions of people I don't know chucking columns of numbers at the page and running away.

How To Play
As a trader, your job is to pick the runners that you think will increase in value.

You start with 1000 credits, and can use these to purchase shares in runners. If you think their mileage is about to drop, then it's time to sell.

Runner values are calculated based on the total volume of running mileage completed in the last 90 days. Values are recalculated as soon as a runner has logged a run.

Runners get a notification when you buy shares, but not when you sell them.

The value of a runner can go up or down, but don't threaten them. Have fun!
