I always want to believe he was and still is clean..but that would indicate that he was using EPO in 1999, before the test was available. I guess someone like him would always be at the forefront of nutrition/enhancements...no accusations since 1999 which in some measure is good news! Interesting article..thanks..it has changed my view on his 1999 issues..althought not my respect for him overall, and does not diminish what he has achieved. Cheers
TW Aug 2009 3:49pm, 5 Aug 2009 553 posts	0 TW Maybe need to clarify that..in my opinion (based on rumour, gossip, hearsay,and very little fact) a lot of the peloton were either blood doping or something similar in 1999, LA was just technoligically ahead of them in his methods. Once EPO was banned and testing started (2000), he then never failed a test, in or out of competition..so in theory he had stopped using it. Just my opinion.

Or perhaps because he had so much pumped into him when he had cancer he though, what does a little bit more matter. Who knows really. There's no 100% proof, but plenty of speculation.
