um 450,000 euros last year, its usual for the winner to divide the winnings equally to the team as he will make 10 times that in the following year in endorsements and advertising etc etc

...and it is a team event. I wonder if Lance took his share last year Looking at my fantasy team, if I had my chance again, i'd swap Kloden and Cunego for Sanchez and Cancellara |

Did you fight any middle aged French women for the "delights" being thrown by the caravan? You have to watch them they turn nasty

the team takes a share of the prize money and if you win you give your share to the team. the big jersey winners and stage winners will get their earnings from the post tour criteriums (town centre races), where they can demand huge start fees. the tour winner can ask up to 30,000 euros or so for a couple of hours work. In the past that was where the pro's would make much of their annual earnings, racing 3-4 times a week throughout August and travelling all round france and benelux. there's not so many races now, but there are a few big ones that draw big crowds. |

Hammer, I managed to get a Francaise des jeux shirt from the caravane which may have annoyed one French guy a little. Largely the caravane passed us in quite remote spots though, so no fighting needed. The Haribo cars really should have offered Starmix though.

The people in the caravan allegedly play a game where they try and hit the adults with stuff as the adults are not looking and try and catch them on the head. Haribo usually win as their packets are pretty small. It get's quite vicious towards the end of the Tour as by then their aim is pretty good and they've had 2.5 weeks of practice. Champion hats cause cuts! So for today I quite fancy Robbie Hunter to win, he looked like he was getting his legs well run in yesterday. I see Maggie brought his Pave into the studio the other day, when the money is spent you need a Lion or a block of stone to remind you of the good days. |

Nice to see Maggy also wearing his coffee shop shirts every day in the studio too. Nice one on the FDJ top Rach. We had a family next to us on AdH - we were about 3 miles up, they'd been there since 10am (like the rest of us), went absolutely mental when the caravan passed grabbing everything (Jnr and their lad nearly had a punch up, then their lad realised that it was only a washing powder sample!). Then after the caravan went they started walking down seemingly not interested in the race! |
