Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Modern pentathlon is great and doing quite well in Scotland I believe. I considered it back when I was riding regularly. Long time ago now though. It was the swimming part that put me off.

I genuinely looked in to see if there was a cheaper alternative to the tornado horse fencing that we have put in, and if it was a good choice.

And to show off that I just found out that it isn't spelled Harris fencing, but Heras fencing (for the temporary dividers that builders use, with weighted feet, for closing off areas from the public).

Epee away, fencers! :-) G

I used to fence at school, and for a brief period about five years later. Never much good though. Amplified by the fact that our small band included Scottish champions (at a comprehensive, btw).

I used to fence at school (1970 - 72 ish).
But once the 'fencing master' (really an English teacher who fenced) retired, the whole thing dropped.
Mainly foil, at least in all competitions, a few try outs with epee and sabre. But not much, (a) because the school only had foils and (b) the competitions at that level were foil only.

Never took it up again after that - was too busy with bridge, hockey, tennis, cricket etc

Very common story unfortunately.

HappyG(rrr) FWIW... extremely jealous of your Tornado fencing. If we had the funds we'd replace every bit of horse field fence with it.

Have also fenced and enjoyed it.

Should probably have mentioned that if I do get the new job I may well be working for a person whose husband is the production manager for Tornado fencing. So....mates rates?

Sigh
I did fence (foil) in 1990-92 at Wolverhampton Fencing Club, I stopped when I moved away to Sheffield in '93. All my kit went mouldy in the loft and got binned many years ago.

I do still have a copy of "Fencing with the Foil" by Roger Crosnier, which was hard to find back then, and I'm loathe to just take it to a general bookshop and would rather it went to someone who would genuinely get some benefit from it. Any interest, RunningRonnie?

I fence epee, been a lot of years since I've touched foil. Very cool looking book though.

Any other fencers on the site at all? I guess fetch will know if I am the only one using that tag or not.

*insert hilarious joke about keeping the dog in the garden or selling stolen goods*

Foil, epee or sabre?
