Glad you had a nice time Bazo. Personally I wouldn't stay working in order to pay for holidays. Every day is a holiday in retirement is the way I'm looking at it! Being somewhere warm and exotic is lovely, but our house us nice enough and can same relaxing with a book or activities, whether home or away. G |

We got our motorhome in 2017 (then changed to a camper van) whilst I was still working, in readiness for retirement. We used it nearly every weekend whilst I was working and for big chunks of school holidays. When I retired, covid hit and site fees increased so we reduced the number of nights away, but still had a trip nearly every month. Since we moved house, like @HappyG(rrr) said, it feels like every day is a holiday. We've not got a holiday planned until September and I'm not counting the days like I used to be (though I am very much looking forward to it ) I feel very lucky to be in this position. |

Congratulations @Silvershadow and @Hibeedeb I like the everyday is a holiday concept, it is true and I will definitely enjoy having time to spend in and appreciate our home. I have been very neglectful of this house compared to our previous one - what changed? Yes my job and responsibilities grew but it is very much the running got more serious. To be able to keep up the running and enjoy the house will be amazing. We had a plan to buy a campervan when we retired, initial thoughts were it would replace the boat but we then (a few weeks ago) decided equally to enjoy the boat for more than a weekend and a once a year week holiday. That escalated when I started researching and I've erm bought the campervan. I cannot wait to go away in it and explore the local areas now but it will impact the time I have in the house. I figure it might as well wait for retirement now haha. Taking my book and pencils/paints with me this weekend while I am running long tomorrow I want to practice being still and doing things I enjoy. Practicing for retirment. |

In my defence the time zone relative to the UK was my point, although as has been pointed out now I’m retired this matters rather less than it would have

It is the opposite for me. Holidays are very important and so a good reason to delay for a while.

Fraid not Greg. Close though, plus or minus 30 mins. Both are great places to visit and well worth going to. Olympics or not. |

Personally it feels sometimes like I'm on a permanent holiday. But a lot of the time it's just the subconscious knowledge that *today* or *tomorrow* I don't have stuff to do that I have to do. I only have to do stuff I want to do or - dread thought - I can do nothing at all |
