I probably am being cautious jda One of my colleagues, and their spouse, from last night have already accessed their TFC as the company scheme allows that from 50 if you have transferred out. For me the TFC is a key part of my retirement income planning |

Velociraptor it was 3 nights in a 4 star hotel, and very nice it was too. Hotels are expensive now, that weekend particularly as marathon, bank holiday, Halloween and half term. That was the price booking 8 months ahead. Leave it to a couple of weeks before and price was £700, if you can find a room. |

I think I'll be opting for three nights in a 4 star hotel too, Shades. It's barely more expensive than renting a room in someone's flat, no parking on site. (This isn't for the marathon.)

Congratulations! Even though I’d more or less retired a while back, I’ve found that making it official has changed my mood for the better. Definitely lifted me once it was official. Got a call from FA today to go in and sign final paperwork. Boss is a bit worried as I have had no correspondence from NHS pension as yet. She is going to chase it next week. I worked over a bit this afternoon so that gives me next Friday off. Worked out I only work one more full week before I leave. That’s due to the holidays I haven’t taken yet. 18 more working days - yikes |

I got this for just under £500 for a week, in Bideford. For 5 people, spacious and well equipped. (which means we ran the dishwasher when it was full, not after every meal because there were only 5 mugd / glasses etc) A week in Oct, before half term, does help the price be less than half what it is from today for a week. Driveway could take 3 cars if needed. No marathons were involved in this rental. Unless you add up the miles walked in the week, when it was quite a bit more. Just round the corner, on the relatively new build estate, was a fairly large sheltered over-55 block of 1 & 2 bed flats. All rental only, with a lot of joint facilities, on site restaurant etc. Not quite spa and gym. I wonder if that offsets the low cost housing and may be more attractive to some? For general info .. this may be what awaits us sanctuary-supported-living.co.uk |
