I didn't know the daily league could be updated in hindsight. Nice work Dave!

10,000 for me this morning at easy UT2 pace.

Likewise SK, my erging times over 5k and 10k are waaaay faster than I can run now and indeed a little faster than when I was in my pomp 20 years ago ...

And today's bash takes me to 13 million metres, since July 2007. I think I said I'd like to hit 15 million by 15 years. Probably not quite on the cards, but there's always 20 million by 20 years ...

Wow Muttley!
I *might* make my first million metres this year if I get my arse in gear.

I played with the damper and nudged it up a bit. I previously had a drag of 94 but did my last session with it at 114 (4ish/10 rather 3ish/100). Might have to play around with it a bit. Not sure what the magic numbers is...

New PB of 7:59.1 as a result... I'm like the guy who just discovered parkrun and gets PBs for the first few weeks

Nice work getting under 8 so soon, Dave. I've added you to the league table in the sidebar.

Enjoy the regular PBs while they're happening. It is a great feeling when you can see the improvement each week.

How did you feel at the end of that 7:59.1?

Not very well...

I tried out the new damper setting and was surprised to see it just under 2 minutes/500m so decided to keep the pace on. Nearly dropped about 1,300m in but then pulled it back together to finish under 8 minutes. I was absolutely blowing and struggled to stand up.

My Vo2 max for running is 56 so for rowing that would be a 7:30ish I think

Well done for rinsing yourself! They never get any more comfortable. They just get horrible for a few less seconds.

Re the damper, 3-5 is usually best. To compare with being on the water, a lower damper setting is like rowing in a sleek fibreglass shell. A higher one is like a heavy old wooden thing (which is what I learned in). There is an argument for a high damper setting on short intervals if you want to build strength but for regular rowing keeping it lower is better.
