Pork came out lovely I browned it in the oven as I roasted the veg.
Slow cooker now simmering the Spag bol.
All ingredients prepped ready to go in the slow cooker for the winter stew recipe in the morning.
I've also roasted veg, chicken and salmon so lunches all sorted for next week.

We cooked a little gammon joint in cola in slow cooker today - very soft and sweet. Think we put in too much cola, but still good. Had it with roasted carrot & parsnip, and mashed potato. Some spare in fridge for OH's lunch tomorrow.

Possibly stupid question
Can you use the slow cooker to reheat - let’s say you want to go out for a long run and come back to hot food- if so how and how long would it take?

I’ve made the beef curry today and switched it off. Tomorrow I’ll put it on when I go to work and it will be ready when we get home tomorrow. I often do it not least as food always seems better the next day.

EP- I don't think they recommend slow cookers for reheating, I don't think it gets the food hot enough for long enough....but as long as it gets it piping hot in the end and it is left at a good high temperature for a reasonable legnth of time i would probably risk it , but then again I eat lots of stuff after 'best befire' dates when my hubby would chuck it

wow! I've just spotted this thread! I need to use our SC more, and the bread has made my ears prick up! Will watch with interest! I did brisket in ours on Christmas eve, it was absolutely gorgeous. Just browned it off then bunged it in on low with some onions, carrots, celery and a bay leaf and left it for about 8 hours. It was about the best beef I've eaten! (and I'm a shocking cook btw...)
