I know years ago all the food waste at the local hospital I worked at was collected for pig swill, that was anytime and everything.

Ditto my primary school - anything left on a plate or after the end of serving was scraped into the pig bins, which, presumably were collected by a local pig farmer.

I know years ago all the food waste at the local hospital I worked at was collected for pig swill, that was anytime and everything. I remember when I was young (6 or earlier) we had a pig bin into which all left over food went, and was collected weekly. I’m not sure whether it was collected by the dustbin men or someone else.

I was a kitchen porter at a hospital back in the day and we had pig bins too, farmers aren’t allowed to collect and feed their pigs like that anymore

I saw “hospital” in that post and thought it was going to say they got the clinical waste…

Is it just me who finds the term plant-based unappetising? I love my veg & fruit, but there's no culinary love and depth to that phrase.
