We’re susceptible to the same problems. Jenrick already shouting in his new job about Starmer releasing prisoners early when they’ve already reoffended. When essentially it’s a Tory and 14 years of underfunding in the prison service, problem.

His rhetoric will probably cut through in the demographics where it counts. But never solve the issue.

The bigger picture of the US result is whether we could be open to the same problems and outcome in 5 years time.

Without being too cynical, the Paris climate agreement was a joke anyway. 1.5. Ha

Where is that from? Not really surprised by the change but it will be about what difference it could have made to the result so where it happened. In some states they are a single figure percentage of the total vote. The overall Latino vote was still for marginally for Harris but I can see they may have been able to make a difference in Florida for example with their numbers.

Dems still in with a chance of saving the house. Follow @ admcrlsn (Adam Carlson) for more. It favours the republicans, but it's not as open and shut as many are making it. It looks like Dems need to make 6 out of 8 tossup seats, most of them in California, where demographics favour Repubs but they need to come fractionally from behind in most, just as a blue shift should kick in. Not hopeful, but worth just keeping a weather eye on this one (probably a better chance of this than Dems taking the Senate in 2026 mid terms it seems, because of the composition of the lost Senate seats).

It is truly criminal. Or is that just the new president?

A lot of his supporters really don't believe he is a criminal.

Yeah, but if he told his supporters the moon was made of cream cheese they'd believe him.

They are religious fanatics and don't let reality impact their world.

I heard a bit of trumps victory speech earlier. If I put aside what I know of trump and judge on what I heard, then it’s easy to conclude he will be a good president.

The problem for me though is that I cannot put aside what I already know of trump. However more than half of American voters either can put it aside, or don’t believe it to be true.
