That's a shame Ronnie but at least you have a better idea of what you want for the next one.

Sorry you lost money Ronnie but you live and learn! We absolutely love our high top transporter! She may be old compared to these new pop up vans but she’s perfect for us! Mr Jelly has even booked to have heating installed next month!

One of the things I'm trying to do with the 2nd van is only fit things I really need. As I'm not a true camper this does change my requirements a little.
Big thing is heating then a bed that can be installed but still let me have the bikes in the van when transporting. Using storage boxes instead of having cupboards. External gas stove.
Will be installing the solar panel but not sure I need a 2nd battery as I'm not a crazed campsite gamer , really only need to charge lights and a phone.

We did greenfield camping for just over a week at the start of the holidays. The only thing we used the leisure battery for was charging phones and running the water pump. Lighting was provided by LED strings running off AAA batteries. Gas cooker and heater and, importantly, gas fridge which helps keep down the electric use.

Come to think of it, we mostly charged phones in the Landrover whilst going about in the daytime.

Gobi, does that mean you’re going to keep this one insured as a van and not a camper?

Nice wheels
Sort of van related - we have spent the last few hours with some people we met down in Annecy a couple of years ago (both of us VW owners). They are moving to France and were stopping overnight locally for the tunnel in the morning. Was great to see them again - another benefit of van life 😁
