They are the defence. Some of them are probably undercover SAS (Sheep as Security).
But shhh, it's a listening station.

For one second I thought it was Great Dun Fell but, from recent experience, it didn't quite look right.

That said, similar defence up in that part of the country to the radar station there.

A favourite part of a favourite route. That reconnaissance run led to a walk with pals, one of whom is unable to ski any more (cancer) and a memorable day.
