Let the leeks flower, they are fabulous!
I make compost. I am in Herefordshire and we don't have garden waste collectiosn. The binmen now also refuse to take my bin and empty it when it isn't actually full. I live on my own and create very little waste. They come once every fortnight. The bin is VERY unsavoury as it hasn't been emptied now for 6 weeks... This coming Thursday, I am going to bulk it out with something, as it is disgusting!

They only empty your bin when it’s full? That’s bonkers. I’d email the council telling them you are actually having to put extra rubbish in your bin just to make sure you aren’t going 8 weeks without it being emptied.

It’s a pretty inefficient operation if they’re driving to your property and doing nothing when they get there. I concur with FDNB. Contact the local authority. Suggest that the bin my become a health hazard if left unemptied.

RH, you can cal it companion planting! Except in reverse, as it normally means planting flowers that deter pests from the vegetables in between the vegetables!

I’ve dug over a whole big area of garden that hasn’t been dug for years. It used to have some scruffy bushes in it. I plan to grass it over. In the mean time the local cats have a luxurious new toilet.

Seeds planted a week past Thursday. 100% germination from beans, 98% from brassicas. Toms and peppers about 35% so far. Onions much much slower, but starting to come today (and they’ve been in the greenhouse so more temp swing).
Need to finish digging!!!
