I took a pic from the coverage where there looks to be space for about 5-6 abreast, and there were quite a few points like this, including in the first 10k.

Seems to happen all too frequently, though often very understandable. I guess when you've got elites running it is critically important that every turn point etc is properly documented, so they've definitely dropped the ball here.

For a big outfit like Great Run it's definitely not a good look.

The Great Eastern Run (Peterborough Half) last Sunday came up short on every single person's strava I checked, by average of ~250m and you could see they had placed a turnaround point in the wrong spot compared to the course map (making for a comically short out and back right before the finish)

Some queried it but it looks like the organisers are saying it was all spot on, measured by an accredited course measurer, complied with all the checks necessary etc. Which misses the point - someone set up a turnaround point wrong on the day, it happens, just admit the error and move on.

Makes me wonder when I see other events having their results scrubbed for much smaller errors. Eg Leeds Abbey Dash (10k) in 2019 was found to be 23m short - I found it astonishing that everyone lost their times over that.
