Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before on here, but it is related to short courses.

I organise a club championship and one of the races was a local, official, measured, half. One of our runners went wrong on the course and only ran about 10 miles, but after crossing the line went to the organisers and said ‘I would have ran x’ and the RD updated his result. The runner wasn’t happy with what followed, but the club wrote to the race saying the runner should be DNFd but the race flatly refused, and it was only after the club got EA involved that the results were updated. We haven’t used that race in the competition since, but we may be forced to soon, as a couple of long-standing, local halfs are unfortunately not happening next year due to falling numbers/increasing costs.

I'd love to run 10 miles of a half and then just get the results updated for "what I would have run"!

What a peculiar decision by the RD to record the result anyway.

Three of the pacemakers who ran the 1:59 INEOS challenge have been banned for drugs.

Twelve Kenyans sanctioned in the last 40 days.

Ouch. Not a good look for kipchoge / Nike / ineos being associated with those.

Noooo! Of all elite runners currently going Kipchoge is the one I most hope is clean. But the association doesn't look good.

If Kipchoge is not clean I would be very very surprised. I hope its not a Lance Armstrong moment.

Supposing Kipchoge did fail a drugs test and it came across Seb Coe’s desk. What do you think Coe would do?

A) it wouldn't
B) he'd ban him without a second thought

I assume that, like with shoe doping, the answer is 'Whatever Nike tells him to do'.

Does it actually come across Coe's desk in that way anyway?

Lance's PR to the general public AKA the cancer shield was exemplary as there wasn't really a reason to trust him over other athletes in fact quite the opposite. I'm not sure there's a reason to trust Kipchoge over other athletes but it would be a big blow to the sport.
