Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I pointed out that the ribble valley 10k was short a few years back, the organisers brushed me off. Not quite such a major event but still attracts some big names and had cash prizes for records (which were broken that year).

Again an incorrect turnaround very obvious from strava traces.

Can see why everyone involved is motivated to say nothing wrong - admitting the error is embarrassing for organisers, could impact future entries and from reading comments it seems runners nearly all prefer to keep a PB even if it's wonky. Good luck getting another one after that though...

I doubt Brendan Foster will be losing any sleep over it, as long as the cash keeps rolling in

Why does BF get such a bad rap as being some sort of Trumpian profiteer?

There's a few people pointing out that the Great South Run on Sunday was ~400m long as well 😂

Paul Martelletti ran the Great Eastern Run and continued running after the finish line to make it up to full distance, commented on his activity:

"Good marketing to not put the word “half” in the title 👌"

Just scanned some straava activities for Great South Run and it's clocked maybe ~200-250m long on average but that was mid pack runners and that's pretty much what I expect most people to run anyway, not easy to take the racing line everywhere with thousands of people about

I thought GSR was close enough - lost GPS in and out of underpass clocking a 3:45 and going through 4 miles about 200m late but then seemed to stay the same and pacing certainly tied in.

Oh agreed - but ‘you can normally tell’ [italics] (Brighton half 2015 - I knew I was well off the pace from 10-12.5 as it was into wind then the finish appeared).
