(missing link from post 20634 ^ https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/79366881# which is not v interesting but makes the post make more sense)

I like that Dave, odd that they've been there 25 years but the bedroom was decorated in the 80s)

I love the apartment block :) And Ulverston is one of those places that attracts the fancypants "I've always felt a spiritual connection to Cumbria" customer base.

I'd always thought of Ulverston (and Millom come to that) as Barrow commuter belt/ former Lancashire rather than retire to the Lakes territory.

Whilst I was born in Barrow I was only there a few hours and lived in Ulverston until I was 34. When I was at school Stone Cross was a school for bad lads, not quite Borsal! MrsS was skates with the Heads daughter and played in the tower. It was a mess for years so nice to see it restored. Oh and there’s a steam train in the grounds!!

Steam train! I always fancied having a garden railway.

The house where Stan was born isn’t quite right Mushroom. It should say he lived there, he was actually born in foundry cottages (as per his birth certificate) which is next to the foundry and nowhere near Argyll St. When people wanted to put a plaque up the owner didn’t want hoards of tourists as it’s a back lane and she lived at the entry so the house he lived in from just after birth got the plaque!
