When I was at school Stone Cross was a school for bad lads, not quite Borsal! MrsS was skates with the Heads daughter and played in the tower. It was a mess for years so nice to see it restored. Oh and there’s a steam train in the grounds!!

It should say he lived there, he was actually born in foundry cottages (as per his birth certificate) which is next to the foundry and nowhere near Argyll St. When people wanted to put a plaque up the owner didn’t want hoards of tourists as it’s a back lane and she lived at the entry so the house he lived in from just after birth got the plaque!
