Alex, Shotover has a fast, flat start (which is sometimes boggy if it's been raining). You then hill Shotover Hill - if you can get a good position on the fast, flat bit at the start you'll have an advantage here as the path up the hill is quite narrow and you risk getting caught behind people. It's a tough, long climb - you'll find you'll virtually walk in places. Then there's a very fast descent - watch out for tree roots! The final bit is again flat - but is nearly always boggy - and you have quite a long stint on the playing fields to finish (so fast again).
It's basically a course with three types of running: fast and flat playing hills, very steep hill and boggy marshland!

P.S. I last ran there four years ago, so my memory may be slightly lacking!

Not sure - it may only be one lap for U15/U17? I'm pretty sure the senior women only did one lap when I did it.

Thats good normally the u15/17 do slightly less than the senior Womens. I find one lap is psychologically beneficial for me...I see it as an extended 400m :D
