Rolling the zero drop into supershoes, I've just had another sale email from Sportsshoes and browsing, there is the Altra Vanish Carbon. 209g, 33mm stack, carbon half-plate, zero drop. £109.99. (Definitely not one for me.) sportsshoes.com |

Might be worth a punt on those for someone. Nice and light and Dustin Joubert found decent running economy benefit from them (2.15 on his scale, a little ahead of the Saucony Endorphin Pro). They're probably shoes I'd like, but I'll not be buying any more supershoes for a little while now.

I'm not convinced by zero drop at that stack TBH, also the foam apparently isn't a super critical one. It did decently in Labrat's single person trials as you say though but probably better newer shoes our there. Now that Altra make non-zero drop shoes, I wonder if their next attempt will have low drop rather than zero. |

SPR, yes labratrundown's trials are single person, as you say, and 'your mileage may vary'. But I have to say that I give them rather more credence than the vast majority of reviews I read, as they are at least consistent between shoes. It's pretty clear that some of the supershoes are more effective at reducing race times than others, and he makes a stab at doing objective measurements which shows why this might be. The ones he finds give the best oxygen improvement for him also tend to be the ones you see on the feet of the most successful athletes as well (although, as discussed on here before, a good part of this is sponsorship as well - Nike sponsor far more of the very best athletes than do, say, Puma).

No issue with Labrat's trials and I look at them with interest. It's just I would try and combine it more info. He himself will say people respond differently but there will be runners that are exactly like him who should therefore probably just pick the Alphafly until his results show something different.

Agreed, SPR. Anyway, I've gone ahead and ordered shoes he hasn't tested yet, so I'm obviously not following him slavishly. 😆

I found this comparison of the Sky+ and Sky Paris interesting. Makes the Paris sound much better to me and that was an improvement in the Sky from what I read. Sounds like it should satisfy you in terms of bounce @J2R although they might make the Sky feel worse, lol
